Eyelid Surgery
This is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids by removing excess skin folds (and fatty lumps, if present). With ageing the eyelid skin tends to hang loose and creates folds which look unesthetic. Sometimes these folds may impair vision also. Quite often, in the elderly, the eyeball fat herniates towards the skin because of laxity and these ‘eye bags’ look very unappealing.
Treatment
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. Best rest is advised for a day and ice packs may be prescribed. The scars are very inconspicuous. All four eyelids may be done in one sitting.
Sometimes eyelid surgery (Asian Blepheroplasty) is requested for improving the oriental looks of an individual.
