Facelift Surgery
A Facelift Surgery [or Rhytidectomy] is a surgical procedure to provide youthfulness by removing the deep wrinkles and sagging skin from the face and neck. It may be combined with a liposuction procedure. The incisions are made in crease lines and the scars are hardly noticeable after a few months. The surgery can easily make the face look 10 years younger.
Need for Treatment
- General or Local Anaesthesia.
- Incisions – Your facelift options include a standard facelift, a minimal incision facelift or a neck lift, depending on the degree of transformation you would like to see. In the hairline at the temples, a typical facelift incision sometimes begins, continues around the ear and finishes in the lower scalp. Fat from the face, jowls and neck can be sculpted or redistributed, and the underlying tissue is repositioned, often lifting the deeper layers of the face and muscles. The skin is stretched upwards and backwards and the excess skin is removed. To further enhance an aging neck and remove fat under the chin, a second incision under the chin may be required. Finally, the incisions are closed by sutures or skin adhesives.
- Incisions Closure – With sutures that may dissolve or may need to be removed after a few days. Skin glues are used by some doctors to close the incisions.
Postoperative recovery takes 3-4 days and normal life can be resumed in 2 weeks. The results of this surgery are extremely gratifying and will restore your confidence and self-esteem.
