Burn Deformity

Even with the best care, post-burn scarring is unavoidable to an extent because it depends on the severity of the burn injury. There can also be burn deformities secondary to skin loss which lead to functional limitations. Deformity correction requires not only the correction of skin loss, but also the secondary changes in the skin, tendons, bones and joints. A well devised treatment plan needs proper evaluation and sequencing of procedures in case of multiple deformities.

In order to obtain a good result in deformity correction, the timing of surgery is important and it depends on several factors. A period of rehabilitation may be required following surgery with ancillary treatment and exercises.
