Vitiligo

Vitiligo or white skin (hypopigmentation) happens when cells (melanocytes) containing pigments die or stop working. Any part of the body, including the mouth, hair and eyes, may be affected by skin colour loss. In individuals with darker skin, it may be more apparent. Vitiligo can start at any age, but it usually appears before 30 years of age. This may be accompanied with premature whitening or greying of the hair on your scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows or beard. There may even be loss of colour in the mucosal surface of inside the mouth and nose. The extent of Vitiligo has a huge range of spectrum. Dermatologists provide some medical treatments for this problem. However, if the Vitiligo is not progressing and is limited to certain visible areas it may be corrected surgically by different procedures.
